Lumidao, Kenyan bets dominate Run United 2


SAINT Claire College runner Janette Lumidao dominated the women’s 21-kilometer (km) run of 2013 Unilab Run United 2 on Sunday at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Lumidao registered one hour, 30 minutes and 35 seconds to take home the P8,500 cash prize. Her triumph had avoided the Kenyans of sweeping the running competition.

Triathlete Monica Torres settled for second place and silver medal after accumulating 1:31:55 time for a P7,500 cash prize, while Susan Chepkwony took the bronze medal with a time of 1:35:35 mark for a P6,500 cash prize.

Kenyan runners, Willy Rotich (1:11:09), Samuel Too (1:13:43) and David Kipsang (1:14:50), scored a 1-2-3 finish in the men’s 21km.

In the men’s 32km results, Jackson Chirchir won the title plus the P12,000 cash prize with a time of 1:54:39 followed by Benjamin Kipkazi (1:59:09) and Elmer Sabal (2:04:08), who settled for P9,000 and P7,500 cash prizes, respectively.

In the women’s division 32k race, Kenyan Irene Kipchumba checked in at 2:22:02 to bag the gold followed by Mary Grace Delos Santos (2:23:25) of Philippine Air Force and former national runner Christabel Martes (2:25:04).
