FOR the second time this week, the Luzon grid will be placed on yellow alert for two hours this afternoon because of the unexpected shutdown of certain power plants and high demand in the region, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said on Wednesday.

The country’s largest island will be on yellow alert from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. today "due to the unexpected shutdown and limited generation of some power plants, and high power demand," the grid operator said in a text advisory.
