Luzon Grid put on yellow alert

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has issued a yellow alert on Luzon Grid from 9a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Yellow alert means electricity reserve is less than the capacity.

According to NGCP, the 122 megawatts (MW) South Luzon Thermal Corp. (SLTEC) 2 and 300-MW Ilijan Block 2 were put on emergency shutdown.

Other plants were also out such as the Pagbilao 2 (382MW); Malaya 1 (300MW); Malaya 2 (350 MW) and Angat Main 2 (50MW). Calaca 1, on the other hand, is still limited to 180-MW of output (out of 200MW). NGCP’s projected peak demand for Tuesday also went up, from 9,373-MW to 9,479-MW.
