Former University of Santo Tomas skipper Aiza Maizo-Pontillas was cut in the 12-player women’s volleyball lineup in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games beginning next month in Singapore.
But the 5-foot-10 southpaw opposite hitter has been offered to join the team as reserve player/assistant coach by the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI).
Maizo-Pontillas, a Most Valuable Player awardee in the Shakey’s V-League, also urged the volleyball community to support the team and the coaching staff following the outburst of some disappointed fans.
“Tigilan na po natin ang mga masasakit na salita sa mga players at coaches. Suportahan nalng po natin kng sino na andyan. Salamat po,” said Maizo-Pontillas on her Twitter account.
