NEW YORK: Joe Maddon, who led the Chicago Cubs to the third-best record in baseball and their first playoff berth since 2008, was named National League Manager of the Year on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila). Texas Rangers manager Jeff Banister was named the American League Manager of the Year in voting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
