NATIONAL players Ariel Magnaye and Paul Vivas and Golden Shuttlers Foundation’s Dia Nicole Magno and Gelita Castilo ruled the doubles open event of the 2014 Prima Pasta Badminton Championship at the Powersmash badminton courts in Makati City.
Magnaye and Vivas beat fellow national players Joper Escueta and Ronel Estanislao in the finals, 21-14, 21-17, to capture the men’s doubles title.
Ateneo De Manila University’s Dia Nicole Magno and Gelita Castilo of Golden Shuttlers retained the women’s doubles open crown for the fourth straight year by beating national team members Jessie Francisco and Christine Inlayo in the finals, 23-21, 21-18.
Alfredo Mailon and Reczon Salvaleon of Team Prima beat Wilfredo Amoroso and Edison Cupcupin of Philippine Star, 21-18 21-13, to take home the men’s doubles level A title.
In the other matches, Sonny Montilla and Orlan Ticala ripped Tan Kapunan and Joed Reyes in the finals, 21-18 21-19, for the men’s double level B crown. Jen Cayetano and Tin Padura of Far Eastern University won over Christine Garin and Gielyn Ochoa of Adamson, 21-17, 20-22, 21-18, for the women’s doubles level B title.
The other winners in the doubles event were Nanette Pineda and Mae Saavedra (women’s Level F), Ara Teodoro and April Remolacio (women’s Level E), Patrice Israel and Tin Padura (women’s Level D) Jennifer Choi and Jen Cayetano (women’s Level C), and Jen Cayetano, Tin Padura (women’s Level B), Arold Jao and Arnold Pacis (men’s Level G), Jonard Dery and Chris Sanchez (men’s Level E), and Yozuke Hisamoto and Buckz Verdejo (men’s Level C).
