National mainstays Peter Gabriel Magnaye and Paul Jefferson Vivas won their third straight men’s open doubles title in the 8th Prima Pasta Badminton Open Championship on Thursday at the Powersmash court in Makati City.

Vivas and Magnaye, winners of last year’s Swiss Open men’s doubles crown in Switzerland, whipped fellow national players Philip Joper Escueta and Ronel Estanislao in the finals, 21-19, 21-9, to successfully defend the crown they owned since 2013.

In the women’s doubles open event supported also by Smart and Babolat, Eleanor Christine Inlayo and Alyssa Ysabel Leonardo defeated the tandem of Anna Patricia Barredo and Thea Marie Pomar, 21-17, 21-17, to clinch the crown.

Aries Delos Santos and Aires Amor Montilla of the Philippine Badminton Association (PBA) Smash Pilipinas won the mixed doubles open title by ripping fellow national players Ronel Estanislao and Anna Patricia Barredo, 21-15, 21-17.

Earlier, Malvinne Ann Alcala ruled the women’s open singles while his brother Mark Shelly dominated the men’s open division.

Other mixed doubles events champions were John Gregg Paz and Descka Calimlim (Mixed Doubles A); Roberto Pineda and Pauline Tan (Mixed Doubles B); John Matthew Bernardo and Chanelle Lunod (Mixed Doubles C), John Valerio and Nerona Etis (Mixed Doubles D) and Fides Bagasbas and Marie Canillo (Mixed Doubles E).

The annual event is organized by Prima Pasta Chairman Alexander Lim and sanctioned by the PBA.
