• Magnitude 3.6 quake jolts Batanes


    A magnitude-3.6 earthquake jolted the province of Batanes on Sunday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). In its bulletin, the agency said the tremor occurred at 5:54 am with its epicenter traced 10 kilometers southeast of Basco, Batanes that felt it at Intensity 4. Phivolcs said the temblor, which was tectonic in origin, had a shallow depth of five kilometers. The agency said there was no casualty or damage reported from the quake and no aftershocks were expected.
