A magnitude 3.8 earthquake shook the province of Batanes on Thursday morning, according according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology’s (Phivolcs) Bulletin.
In its bulletin, the quake with a 3.8 magnitude occured at 6:29 a.m. with epicenter traced 59 kilometers (km) southwest of Sabtang in Batanes.
The quake which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 35 kilometers.
Phivolcs reported no damages and no expected aftershocks from the tremor.
The Philippines lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where 20 to 25 earthquakes per day — mostly imperceptible — are common, Phivolcs said. PNA
