MAGNITUDE 4.1 QUAKE JOLTS SOUTHERN NEGROS OCCIDENTAL

ILOILO CITY: A magnitude 4.1 earthquake jolted northern part of Sipalay, Negros Occidental about 1:41 a.m. on Sunday. In a report from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the earthquake of tectonic in origin was located 9.83 degrees north, 122.32 degrees east—12 kilometers west of Sipalay City in Southern Negros Occidental at a depth of 24 kilometers. Phivolcs said that Intensity 3 was also felt in Sipalay City while Intensity 2 also jolted the southernmost town of Hinoba-an, Cauayan, all in southern Negros Occidental. Phivolcs said no damage to property has been reported as an aftermath of the early morning tremor.
