A magnitude-4.4 aftershock occurred on on Friday morning jolted Negros Occidental, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
In its bulletin, the agency said the magnitude of 4.4 aftershock occurred at 4:17 a.m. and its epicenter was traced 68 kilometers southwest of Hinoba-an in Negros Occidental.
The agency noted that Intensity 3 was felt in Basay, Negros Oriental.
Phivolcs described an Intensity 3 earthquake as weak, but it is felt by many people indoors especially those in upper floors of buildings.
It further noted that a vibration like the “passing of a light truck” would be felt while water containers oscillate and hanging objects swing moderately.
Phivolcs said the quake was felt at Intensity 2 in Dumaguete City and Tayasan, Negros Oriental
The tremor, which was tectonic in origin, had a shallow depth of 31 kilometers.
Despite of the felt intensity, the agency noted that there was no casualty or damage reported from the quake. PNA
