A magnitude 4.6- earthquake rattled the province of Surigao del Norte on Sunday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said the earthquake occurred at 5:50 a.m., with the epicenter traced at 23 kilometers southwest of Malimono town in Surigao del Norte.
It was felt at Intensity 4 in the area as well as in Mainit, Surigao del Norte; Intensity 3 in Butuan City, and Intensity 1 in Camiguin Island.
The tremor, which was tectonic in origin, was in a shallow depth of 19 kilometers.
There was no report of casualties or damage from the quake and no aftershocks were expected.
Phivolcs describes an Intensity 4 tremor as moderately strong and is felt generally by people indoors and by some people outdoors. Light sleepers are awakened.
