• Magnitude 4.8 shakes NLuzon

BAGUIO CITY: The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said most of Northern Luzon felt another earthquake at 2:52 a.m. on Saturday.

The magnitude 4.8 jolt on Saturday was an aftershock of a major tremor on Friday that occurred at about 3:45 a.m., of 5.1 magnitude or intensity III with epicenter at Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya.

Salvador Cesario, Phivolcs’ officer-in-charge here, said the dawn jolt may be the last of a series of more than 100 aftershocks recorded since the Friday quake emanating from Ambaguio.

He said earthquakes are normal occurrences, with more than 20 shakes in a day, and only a few, measuring magnitude 5 or more, are felt.
