Magnitude 5.6 quake jolts Tawi-Tawi


STATE seismologists recorded a magnitude-5.6 quake that rocked some areas in Tawi-Tawi province on Tuesday dawn. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was tectonic in origin with an epicenter located 16 km southwest of Simunul Island in Tawi-Tawi. The quake was also felt in Bongao, Languyan and Panglima Sugala in Tawi-tawi; and in Siasi and Maimbung in Sulu. No damage was reported to authorities although Phivolcs warned residents of probable aftershocks.
