A magnitude 5.7 earthquake jolted Antique province and nearby provinces on Friday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs recorded the tremor at 4:05 p.m., with the epicenter five kilometers southeast of Culasi town in Antique.
It said Culasi felt the tremor at Intensity 6.
The towns of Kalibo, Aklan, and Sebaste, Pandan, Lauan and Libertad in Antique felt the quake at Intensity 5.
It was Intensity 4 in San Jose, Sibalom and San Remegio, also in Antique, and Intensity 3 at La Carlota City in Negros Occidental, Roxas City in Capiz and Iloilo City in Iloilo.
The quake was Intensity 2 in Cebu City and Intensity 1 in Zambonga City.
Tectonic in origin, it occurred at a shallow depth of 14 kilometers.
Phivolcs said an Intensity 6 earthquake is very strong, causing people to lose their balance.
It added that there was no report of damage from the earthquake as of late Friday afternoon.
