A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck off General Nakar in Quezon province on Thursday afternoon.
A Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) science research specialist said aftershocks are expected to be felt given the earthquake’s magnitude.
Thus, he added, the public must stay vigilant.
The quake of tectonic origin occurred at 3:10 p.m., located 14.83 degrees north and 121.41 degrees east of General Nakar.
It has a depth of 13 kilometers, Phivolcs said.
Magnitude 5 shook General Nakar, while m4 was experienced in Antipolo City in Rizal province.
Magnitude 3 was felt in areas in Metro Manila such as Quezon City, Marikina City, Manila, Makati City and San Juan City, as well as the province of Tarlac.
The earthquake was also felt in Taguig City and Mandaluyong City, both also in Metro Manila, at magnitude 2.
