Four people have been killed in clashes between rival political clans in the province of Maguindanao, just days after a contentious election reinstated a local mayor, authorities said.

Fighting flared between the Sabal and Buisan clans in the strife-torn southern province over the vote on May 9, the same day as the synchronized national and local elections, which saw Muntasir Sabal retain his post, beating a Buisan-backed opponent.
