Governor Esmael Toto Mangudadatu on Saturday appealed to his constituents not to believe rumors that several bombings will take place within the province any time soon. Text messages saying that bombings will occur in different places in the province circulated Maguindanao on Saturday. Among the text messages circulating in the province was about the impending collapse of the government and Moro Islamic Liberation Front peace process and the eventual war in Mindanao which will commence with the series of bomb attacks. The governor urged his constituents not to believe these messages adding that they should remain calm and be vigilant by alerting the police if ever they see any suspicious person or any suspicious bags left unattended on any road and densely populated areas in the province. Maguindanao and towns in the borders of North Cotabato had been rocked by the series of bombings perpetrated by Moro renegades Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF). Last month alone, at least two dozens of bomb attacks carried out by BIFF was reported by police and military authorities. The bombings came during the observance of Ramadhan, the holiest month among Islamic faithfuls. Most of the victims were government forces but civilians were also affected in ensuing military actions against the bandits.
