Maguindanao signs interfaith peace accord

MAGUINDANAO: The provincial government jointly signed on Monday a peace accord with international interfaith peace advocate groups to spread the “message of peace” and save children from armed-conflicts.

The accord was signed by Governor Esmael Mangudadatu, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light Chairman Man Hee Lee and International Women’s Peace Group Chairperson Nam Hee Kim.

Witnesses of the signing were members of the International Peace Youth Group, Maguindanao province officials, the army’s 6th Infantry Division and the Philippine National Police.

The HWPL is a non-governmental, non-profit international organization registered in South Korea.

Aside from religious advocacy on peace, Manguda- datu cited their programs on education including the around 6,000 students currently being served by their Maguindanao program on education assistance and community empowerment.

The program is also opened to the children of the radical group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) to help them out from holding guns, Mangudadatu said.
