Top actress, “Dance Princess,” and recording artist Maja Salvador may have ended her high-profile relationship with hunk Gerald Anderson, but she is very much in love again.
The beautiful and sultry celebrity said so herself this week as she held a press launch for her sophomore album under Ivory Music & Video, aptly titled Maja In Love.
“Kung noon [before the surprise release of her platinum debut album Believe in March 2014]pinapangarap ko lang na maging recording artist, na-realize ko habang ginagawa namin itong second album ko na in love na in love talaga ako sa music. Hindi lang sa pag-record or pag-perform sa concert, pero pati sa proseso ng pag-susulat at pag-compose ng isang kanta,”
Maja revealed that she co-wrote the album’s lead ballad “Bakit Ganito Ang Pag-ibig?” which touches on the emotional roller coaster of love.
“Actually kanta siya ni Mia,” the singer added, referring to her character in the ongoing top-rated series Bridges of Love on ABS-CBN. “Nasabay talaga yung pag-buo nung kanta nung shi-noo-shoot namin yung love scenes ko with Jericho [Rosales], kaya ang hashtag ko talaga sa single na ‘to, ‘kanta ni Mia’,” she added laughing.
Moreover, the song allows Maja to explore a more emotional depth in her music, which is a more soulful sound than her previous hits from Believe, namely “Dahan-dahan,” the Abra-assisted “Halika Na” and “Buong Gabi” featuring Project Pinas.
The other tracks from Maja In Love, which notably show her growth as an artist, include “Habulan,” a sexy ballad; “Nakawin Natin Ang Sandali,” a smooth, upbeat oasis to balance out the emotional power of the album; the lone English track song “Love Me, Kill Me;” and duets with Sam Milby in “Gaano Kalayo” and ex-boyfriend Rayver Cruz in “Hiling.”
‘Even before the official album launch on May 14, digital pre-orders on iTunes Philippines catapulted In Love high up the music charts, confirming that Maja is already considered a full-fledged recording artist in OPM today.
Happily, she also revealed that another concert is in the works, following her first major outing MAJ: The Legal Performer in July 2014 to complement the sophomore album’s release.
“Marami pa akong gustong gawin sa music, and maasahan yon ng mga nagustuhan ang Believe at ngayon itong In Love,” Maja related.
Still amazed at how she actually penetrated the recording industry—with endless voice classes, practice and hard work—she quipped, “May tiwala na ako sa boses ko ngayon!”|
The official launch of Maja In Love will be held today at Robinsons Ermita in Manila City. The CD is already available in record stores nation wide.
