Prime time actress Maja Salvador is certainly in demand these days. For even if she expressed her wishes to cut back on work for a little while after her hit ABS-CBN drama series Bridges of Love ended in early August, she has just been cast as Coco Martin’s leading lady in the upcoming television adaptation of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
The announcement was made this week by ABS-CBN creative group Dreamscape Entertainment in a solo press conference for Maja, where she nevertheless conveyed her excitement on working in such an important project. She is also looking forward to working with Coco Martin again, with whom she was paired in the 2011 action drama series Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin.
Responding to a video message from Coco welcoming her to the production, Maja said, “Kakaiba yung saya niya. Parang bata na nasurpresa, na sobrang gustong-gusto yung regalo. Excited din ako dahil marami akong natututunan kay Coco in terms of acting.”
Ang Probinsyano has yet to release its date of premiere, but what ABS-CBN continues to promise is that it will be a big time production that is worth the wait. Angeline Quinto was earlier announced as Coco’s leading lady but the singer-actress had to back out of the project due to a tight workload. The rest of Probinsyano’s cast includes Albert Martinez, Agot Isidro, Bela Padilla, Arjo Atayde, and FPJ’s widow Susan Roces.
