After two years of not mounting its annual New Year’s Eve countdown, the Makati City government has announced that it will push through the traditional activity this year.
The New Year’s Eve Countdown 2016, dubbed as “Shout,” will be staged at the University of Makati track and field oval starting 4 p.m. on December 31 until 3 a.m. of January 1.
Residents and guests will be welcomed by food concessionaires, booth owners, street magicians and celebrities, among many others.
The revelry will be capped by a grand fireworks display that will last for 15 minutes.
Makati had not celebrated the New Year’s Eve countdown for the past two years as the government decided to channel funds to victims of typhoons Yolanda and Ruby in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
