The Philippine Swimming League (PSL) will stage its 89th National Series on January 23 at the Makati Aquatic Sports Arena.
Mayor Kid Pena made it possible for the PSL to conduct the first competition of the year in a long course competition.
“We thank Mayor Pena for having the compassion and heart to let the PSL compete in the Makati Aquatic Sports Arena. It is very important for us and for the PSL swimmers because this is our preparation for our swimming competition in international competition to be held in Japan,” said PSL President Susan Papa.
“This event will be hosted by Marlon Mendez of Academy of Holistic Garden.
His daughter, Estelle Margaret, 7, is an active participant in our PSL leg series and is now qualified to go to international competitions as young as she is just like Jasmine Mojdeh,” Papa added.
Swimmers in the eight-under category will be limited to participate in four individual events while swimmers in the nine to 10 age band are allowed to have five events. The 11-over participants can submit entries in six events.
Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers by age band while trophies await the Most Outstanding Swimmer awardees. Two swimmers (one male and one female) with the highest International Swimming Federation (FINA) points will receive the Presidential Trophies and P1,500 cash incentive each.
The top 3 finishers will be awarded medals in each band category and team championship will also be awarded.
This competition is open to all swimmers be as it may they are schools or clubs.
“We want to open the gates to these young swimmers who want to represent our country in international competitions such as World University Games. We want the swimmers to be spiritually and physically alive and share the lifetime wisdom”, said Papa.
PSL is a national sports swimming association for Universities and Colleges accredited by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), internationally affiliated member of Federation of International Sports University (FISU).
