KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s 2012 acquittal for sodomy was overturned on Friday, in a new threat to the career of a charismatic politician who helped turn around the country’s once-hapless opposition. The Court of Appeal ruled in favour of the government’s bid to overturn Anwar’s acquittal on charges he sodomized a male former aide.

  1. The Malaysian government is a semi-dictatorial government. It had a strong influence on decision made by Malaysian court. The charge of sodomy against Anwar Ibrahim was a trumph up charge to destroy him politically. It is sad that such thing is still happening in spite of Malaysia having attained some form of advancement in education and economy. A judgement was already rendered that he was not guilty. The CA’s decision overturning his not guilty verdict is a mockery of justice.
