The National Book Store has announced the second printing of the book, Feature, Editorial and Opinion Writing, by Alito L. Malinao.
The book is now available in all National Book Store outlets throughout the country.
First published in 2008, the book contains valuable tips on how to write features, editorials, columns and other opinion pieces. It has also a glossary of commonly-used English idioms that writers can use to jazz up their feature stories and interpretative articles.
The book also has a chapter on the evolution of editorial cartooning in the Philippines. It has snapshots of the country’s most popu- lar cartoonists.
The author of the book has been a journalist for more than three decades. He is a former news editor of the Manila Standard, former senior editor of the Manila Times, former executive editor of the Philippines News Agency, and former chief editor of the Presidential News Desk in Malacañang. He now teaches journalism subjects at the Paman- tasan ng Lungsod ng May- nila (PLM).
Malinao is also the author of Journalism for Filipinos, a textbook on journalism used by most schools in the Phiippines offering Masscom subjects. First published in l991, Journalism for Filipinos is now on its third edition and 16th printing. The third edition includes chapters on the Internet and computer editing and layouting.
He has authored two other books, Campus and Community Journalism Handbook and Handbook on Basic Media Laws and Ethics. The latter, released only in 2011, was written in collaboration with Atty. Hector A. Villacorta, former chief of staff of Sen. Vicente Sotto, 3rd.
All books by Malinao are published and distributed exclusively by the National Book Store.
