ABS-CBN Corp. announced the appointment of Malou Santos as the chief operating officer (COO) of Star Creatives, effective February 15.
As COO of Star Creatives, Malou will continue to provide leadership, management, and vision to ensure that it continues to dominate the entertainment industry through its production of high-caliber films, primetime drama, and multi-platform Filipino music.
She will also continue to strengthen Star Music, the music arm of ABS-CBN, through live events production, radio programming, and artist development and management.
Under Malou’s leadership, Star Cinema cemented its reputation as the leading film studio in the country that has produced quality films catered to Filipino preferences. Its market leadership has been proven through its dominance of the local box office.
The top 10 highest-grossing Filipino movies of all time were all produced by Star Cinema, like Beauty and the Bestie, and A Second Chance.
Malou is a principal player behind the success of Asia’s longest-running and award-winning drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya and other world-class primetime dramas like Pangako Sa ’Yo, Forevermore, The Legal Wife and Imortal, among others.
Mel Tiangco thanks ‘One Heart’ artists
GMA Kapuso Foundation executive vice president Mel Tiangco personally thanked the GMA Record artists behind the label’s album-for-a-cause One Heart, which was officially launched on February 11 at the GMA Network headquarters.
“Ang GMA Kapuso Foundation ay taos-pusong nagpapasalamat, una muna sa GMA Artist Center at siyempre sa GMA Records para sa napakagandang handog ngayong Valentine’s Day, at lalo na sa mga artists natin na naghandog ng kanilang talent,” said the veteran broadcaster at the all-star gathering.
The record label has pledged to give part proceeds to the foundation, which works all year round to respond to communities around the country affected by calamities, as well as in building classrooms in public schools nationwide.

Red-letter day for Love Radio
FM station 90.7 Love Radio has all the reasons to celebrate this Valentine’s Day as it marks its 42nd anniversary on air.
According Manila Broadcasting Company executives who are behind the station’s operations, the team has outlined big plans for Love Radio in 2016, especially in incorporating new media in their daily broadcast.
“Projects still in the pipeline will keep station hands focused at giving their best, making sure that when listeners are surveyed as to which station they listen to, the answer remains the same—90.7 Love Radio kailangan pa ba’ng i-memorize’yan?” said a statement they shared with The Manila Times.
