LEGAZPI CITY: A man, who went to the Sta. Elena Police Office in Camarines Norte to claim a stolen vehicle, was arrested by the police for allegedly conniving with three other men in trying to steal P9 million in cash for the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) here. Camarines Norte Police Director Enrico Amor said suspect Santiago Calaor, 40, made the mistake of appearing at the police office claiming his van was stolen. The van, it appeared, was the same one used by four men in blocking the car of victims Agapito and Alfiere Sale on Monday. Agapito, manager of the Rural Bank of Sta. Elena, and Alfiere, the loan officer, withdrew P9.048 million from the Land Bank of the Philippines branch in the adjacent Labo town when the incident happened. Although their car was peppered with bullets, Amor said, the father and son were able to get some help from nearby residents. Amor added that the same residents were able to identify Calaor as the one who actually drove the L-300 van when it blocked the way of the Sale’s car.
