A drunk man was killed while two police officers were wounded after a shooting incident in a sub-urban village in Barili town, Cebu province on Wednesday night.
Reports from the Philippine National Police Operations Center in Camp Crame on Friday identified the two wounded policemen as PO2 Pablito Caadlawon and PO1 Ronie Guzman while the slain man was identified only as alias “Arlie” from Carcar City.
Reports said that the shooting incident happened after the policemen received a call for police assistance about a man, armed with a .9mm pistol, having a drinking spree at Barangay Dakit of the said municipality.
Arlie reportedly lobbed a grenade, which failed to explode, at the approaching police officers. Since the grenade failed to explode, Arlie to drew his gun and immediately opened fire at the officers hitting them both.
Reports said that the two police officers, despite being hit, were able to return fire hitting Arlie in different parts of his body.
The police officers and Arlie were brought to Barili District Hospital for treatment but Arlie was dead on arrival.
Reports said that recovered from Arlie’s were a .9mm Armscor pistol with six live ammunition and another magazine also loaded with nine live ammunition. ANTHONY VARGAS
