Man nabbed selling fake airport cards at NAIA

A 47-year-old man was arrested by Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) authorities after he was caught selling and manufacturing fake airport monthly access passes that posed serious security risks.

Officials of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Friday said the fabricated access passes were being sold for P100.00 each by suspect Julian Del Rosario, the owner Jugrapharts Photo Shop in Sun Valley, Pasay City, located just a few meters away from NAIA Terminal 1.

MIAA assistant general manager for security and emergency services Salvador Peñaflor said an informant disclosed del Rosario’s illegal activity, which is considered an airport security risk as terrorists might use the face documents to gain entry into the airport.

The illegal activity was first reported by an asset on May 17, 2013. The asset who is a contract worker at NAIA informed the airport’s Pass Control Office that a man had approached him offering a printed monthly access pass for P100.00.

The personnel of the Pass Control Office brought the matter to the Airport Police Department while the MIAA immediately coordinated with the National Bureau of Investigation and the Southern Police District where they conducted surveillance operation through their asset to confirm the suspect’s involvement in the illegal activity.
