• Man stalls MRT trips

OPERATIONS at the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 were stalled for 30 minutes on Friday afternoon after an unidentified man managed to get inside the rail tracks by climbing on the perimeter fence’s northbound portion in front of New York Avenue, in Cubao, Quezon City.

According to the MRT control center, the unidentified man, who had no shirt and in green short pants, climbed the cyclone wire fence at around 3:00 p.m. and held on to the electric power line, which electrocuted him.

The man then fell down on the rail tracks head first. A train arrived but luckily the man was not ran over as he was positioned in between the rail tracks.

The train stopped as the man was under the third coach. A rescue team from the MRT-3 plucked the man out and rushed him to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment of injuries in the head and mouth.

Train operations went back to normal after 30 minutes.
