MARAWI CITY: A man and a woman were killed by unknown suspects and their corpses were found early morning on Wednesday in Barangay Guimba here, one of the conservative Muslim communities in southern Philippines. Senior Supt. Agustin Tello, Lanao del Sur provincial police director, identified the male cadaver as Casan Panganting, 21, of Piagapo town while the young female was only identified as certain Amerah. Both victims were wearing yellow shirts and blue jeans when found at about 7:45 a.m. with their hands tied with rope. Initial investigation revealed that the female victim is married. The victims are from the conservative Maranao, whose religion is Islam. It was unknown who killed the two but illicit relationship is totally forbidden in the Islamic teachings for bringing shame to the clan of the one engaging in immoral acts. The victims’ bodies were buried within 24 hours in accordance with Muslim rites.
