POLICE have launched a citywide manhunt against two men who shot dead a transport group leader on Thursday morning.

Senior Supt. Rolen Balquin, city police director, said police investigators are following up a lead that could identify and possibly arrest the suspect who shot dead Alimudin Lucman.

Lucman, 47, the president of Notre Dame Village Drivers and Operators Association, sustained six gunshot wounds and died on the spot. His relative, Mamudin Aluy, 29, was wounded and is recuperating at a hospital here.

Balquin said Lucman was driving his multicab vehicle with Aluy sitting in the front seat when two men riding tandem on a motorbike approached and opened fire.

Lucman died on the spot while bystanders rushed Aluy to the hospital.

Police said prior to the shooting, Lucman had been receiving death threats through his mobile phone from still unidentified persons.

Badrudin Ali, president of 1-Utak for Central Mindanao, strongly condemned the attack against Lucman whom he said was a good transport leader. PNA
