Philippines’ prime capital is set to find its latest star with the first-ever “Tinig ng Maynila,” the city of Manila’s singing contest where half a million pesos and a recording contract from VIVA await the grand winner.
The talent search is a project of Manila City Hall under the Sulong Manila program of president, Mayor Joseph Estrada himself, in cooperation with VIVA Live Inc.
Tinig ng Maynila kicked off last year while its semifinals was recently concluded. Two grand finalists were chosen to represent teach district of Manila.
The 12 grand finalists who will battle it out come finals are: Districts 1’s Eugene Mae Santos and Francesca Lapada; District 2’s Joanna Rose Alvarez and Justine Jose; District 3’s Ma. Jinky Lourdes Banzon and Ma. Krissan Manika; District 4’s Larnie Rose Cayabyab and Rochelle Jeanne Solquillo; District 5’s Alisah Nina Luz Bonaobra and Jhastine Genebe; and District 6’s Alyssa Patricia Hernandez and Roan Isaac Hemor.
Although the date and venue of the grand finals have yet to be finalized, it was confirmed—during the contestant’s press presentation at Manila City Hall last February 2—that the grand finals will be aired on TV5 through delayed telecast.
Besides a grand winner, there will be a first placer who will receive P300,000 and a second placer who will get P200,000.
