Vice presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday scoured barangays of Makati City and was welcomed by residents bearing slogans like “Marcos forever” and “Solid Marcos.”
Residents of the city’s financial district, young and old and alike, went out of their homes and expressed support for Marcos as he passed residential areas, bringing his “Unity Caravan” to the city.
“We are very excited to see in person Bongbong. He is very much like his father even the way he moves,” said Thelma Gutierrez of Barangay Pinagkaisahan.
Marcos was mobbed by thousands of people of all ages, who lined the streets to witness his motorcade.
Other barangays which the motorcade passed were Pitogo, South Cembo, Cembo including the Guadalupe BLISS housing project, West Rembo and East Rembo.
In Pitogo, Marcos administered the oath of office to officers of “Kailian Kami Kabsat (Kababayan Kami, Kapatid, We are Townmates, Brother/Sister),” an organization of Ilocano residents in Makati leading the campaign for his vice presidential bid in the city’s barangays and nearby areas.
Marcos expressed gratitude to his supporters and called on them to join his crusade for national unity, the backbone of his vice presidential campaign and the principle of his brand of governance.
“Join me in this movement of uniting the Filipinos, our first step toward progress,” he told the residents.
Today, Marcos is scheduled to visit Zambales province.
