YOSHKAR OLA: The Olympic flame has passed through streets of Yoshkar Ola, the capital of the Republic of Mari El. Thousands of residents of the republic took part in the sportive event. According to organizers, they could not expect such powerful support from the population of the small Volga republic. The Olympic flame has been carried in the hands and transported by rider vehicles. The famous Mari clock welcomed the Olympic torch at one of the squares. When the Olympic flame arrived 12 Apostles came out of the clock. The figures of Jesus Christ and his pupils are the unique sightseeing of the republic. The Olympic torch finished where it started. The 3,000-seats Ice Palace could not accommodate all wishing to attend the event. A ceremony of lighting up the Olympic cauldron was broadcast on the city street.
