MARIJUANA UPROOTED IN KALINGA WORTH P1.4M

Fully grown marijuana plants worth P1,440,000 were uprooted and burned on-site by combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) during a marijuana eradication operation in Tinglayan, Kalinga. PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. said that the 7,200 pieces of cannabis plants were discovered by joint elements of PDEA-Cordillera Administrative Region under Director Ronald Allan Ricardo, Regional and Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Groups, Kalinga Provincial Public Safety Company and Tinglayan Police in two cultivation sites with a total land area of 1,200 square meters in Sitio Balete, Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga. Cacdac said that although no cultivator was arrested, PDEA will continue to sustain its intensified efforts to seek and wipe out marijuana plantation sites in the country.
