Marine corporal arrested in Zamboanga


An active marine non-commissioned officer was arrested by combined elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine Navy (PN) during a buy-bust operation in Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr. identified the arrested suspect as Corporal Jose Ibba, an active member of the Philippine Marine Battalion Landing Team 11, Philippine Marines in Brgy. Kabatangan, Zamboanga City. Ibba is a resident of Paseo de Putik, Guiwan, Zamboanga City.

The marine officer was arrested after he received marked money in exchange for one piece of small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu.

The operation yielded one Norinco caliber 45 pistol, five pieces of ammunition for caliber 45, one magazine of caliber 45 pistol and one brown wallet with various identification cards.

Ibba is temporarily detained at the PDEA Regional Office 9 jail facility. He will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. An additional charge for violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) will also be filed against him.
