The 6th Infantry Division on Wednesday announced that a Marine battalion was ordered redeployed to its area of operations in Maguindanao.
Capt. Jo-ann Petinglay, 6th Infantry Division spokesperson, said the Marine unit was ordered redeployed to them on Jan. 27.
She added the Marine battalion had just finished a tour of duty in Sulu and Basilan which started March last year.
Petinglay said these troopers were utilized in pursuing Abu Sayyaf Group terrorists in the two provinces.
“This Marine Battalion has just been redeployed back to its mother unit which is the 1st Marine Brigade whose area of responsibility covers the coastal towns of Senator Ninoy Aquino of Sultan Kudarat Province and the towns of Upi and Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao,” she pointed out.
The redeployment is long overdue and is not in any way related to the recent incidents in Central Mindanao, he added. PNA
