NEW YORK: Norichika Aoki, a 33-year-old outfielder, has signed a one-year Major League Baseball contract with the Seattle Mariners for the 2016 campaign, the American League club announced. Aoki has spent the past four seasons with US teams after coming over from Japan. He previously played for the Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants. Last season, Aoki batted .287 with five home runs, 26 runs batted in and 14 stolen bases over 93 games. He spent more than a month on the injured list with a broken leg and another week idled by a concussion in August.
