Mariveles bag makers receive P1.6 million in assistance


BALANGA City: The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has provided a bag making cooperative in Mariveles, Bataan, a computerized embroidery machine and a flat-bed binding machine amounting to P1.6 million.

Nelin Cabahug, Bataan DTI provincial director, said the Mariveles Bagmakers Multi-purpose Cooperative, Inc. received the assistance under the Shared Service Facility (SSF) project of their agency.

DTI Region 3 Director Judith Angeles congratulated the recipients and advised them to take care and put the equipment into good use.

“With this high-tech equipment, we are assured to produce more quality bags and be more competitive in capturing the big market,” said Carlisa Magabo, MPCI chairperson.

DTI Region 3 reportedly has a budget of P100 million with P30 million intended for Bataan.

The first three recipients of SSF projects in Bataan were organizations in Limay, Pilar and Balanga City.

The town of Pilar got equipment for processing peanut butter and banana chips while an Aeta organization in Limay received tools for processing root crops.

The Bataan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. headed by businesswoman Amanda Battad received P1.6M-worth of gadgets for its packaging and processing center and can sealing.
