• Mariveles to have district hospital


    MARIVELES, Bataan: Residents of Mariveles and workers at the Freeport Area of Bataan will soon avail of hospital services with the operation of a 50-bed capacity Mariveles District Hospital, outgoing Mayor Jesse Concepcion announced Tuesday. The hospital will cater to residents in 18 barangays with estimated population of 120,000 and 25,000 workers from companies at the Freeport Area of Bataan, former Bataan Export Processing Zone turned-Bataan Economic Zone. Concepcion said Mariveles has the biggest population in Bataan but with no government hospital. An old Polytechnic University of the Philippines building will be renovated for the district hospital to be funded by Mariveles and the provincial government of Bataan. Concepcion added that a coal-fired power plant in barangay Alas-Asin, in Mariveles, pledged to donate medical equipment from the US.
