Masbate town mayor, bodyguards accused of mauling 3 men


LEGAZPI CITY: Three men have filed a complaint at the Masbate City Police Station against the mayor of Placer, Masbate and his bodyguards for allegedly beating them up in front of the town official’s residence along Robredo Boulevard in Barangay Ibingay, Masbate City. A police report identified one of the suspects as Placer Mayor Jay Seachon Lanete, son of defeated gubernatorial candidate and re-electionist Governor Rizalina Dayan Seachon-Lanete. The complainants were identified as Juancho Esmeria, an employee of the Masbate Regional Trial Court, Zaldy Umali, and Michael Tipon-tipon. The three were on board a motorcycle and were passing by the Lanete residence when the mayor and his men ganged up on them. The three victims suffered injuries and were rushed to the Masbate Provincial Hospital while the suspects escaped from the scene when the police arrived.
