Indie actor Leon Miguel, a proud Masbateno, won as Best Actor for the Short Film Category at the International
Film Festival Manhattan on October 20. Held at the Philippine Consulate in New York Leon Miguel bagged the award for his role as a friendly and well-meaning taxi driver in the short film Redlights, directed by award-winning Filipino-Canadian director Christian Lat.
Another awarded director, Ron Morales, accepted the award on Leon Miguel’s behalf. Morales directed Miguel in his first independent movie Graceland, which was an entry to the 2012 TriBeCa Film Festival.
Right now, Miguel has a short film titled Fall Guy, which has been submitted to the forthcoming Metro Manila Film Festival.
