THIS year’s staging of the country’s longest-running motor show, Trans Sport Show (TSS), will highlight two automotive marques and a nameplate that are celebrating their special anniversaries—Maserati, Dodge and the Ford Mustang.
According to TSS organizer Trade Show International (TSI), a first-generation and a third-generation Ghibli will be showcased side-by-side to mark 100 years of Maserati. The Giugiaro-designed classic Ghibli, which is due for restoration, is the only one in the Philippines. It was previously owned by renowned car collector Cresenciano de Castro. It will be lent by Michel Motorsport for the show.
The 2014 Ghibli will be displayed courtesy of Autostrada Motore, Inc., TSI said.
It added that to celebrate 100 years of Dodge, an old and a new Challenger will also be displayed.
The show will also feature two restored Ford Mustangs—one stock and the other race-prepped—to highlight the nameplate’s 50th year. The Mustangs will be presented by Alex Car Restoration and Route 66, both TSS Best of Show winners.
“Trans Sport Show has always been a fitting venue for both old-school and new-school rides because it aims to draw all generations of car enthusiasts under one roof, offering them a four-day experiential and educational event,” said TSI President Sophie de los Santos. “We do not only entertain but also do a lot of information dissemination on automotive history to educate the new breed of car enthusiasts. We feel it is our responsibility to raise the standards in auto shows by sharing valuable knowledge through the show vehicles.”
TSI said there will be trade and retail booths offering “show special” promotions, as well as new product launches, at this year’s TSS. The promos will be spearheaded by show presenter Phoenix Premium 98, Saffiro tires, Concept One wheels, Toyomoto, Federal Tyres, Maxtrek and AMP tires, Atturo, Mirage and AWC tires, and Big O’s Tire Corp.
TSI said that other event highlights are the Manila Sports Car Club racing display that will promote historic and modern sports car racing series. The display will include a reproduction of a Lotus Seven (Michel 7) and a three-wheel Morgan. A new feature in the show is the Rescue Vehicles Showcase by Firewolf Motors, and the launch of the ARTCarFest 2015, the newest competition at TSS.
The 2014 TSS will open May 22 and will run until May 25 at the SMX Convention Center Manila. Ticket prices are P100 for adults, P80 for senior citizens and P50 for children 10 years and below. Children under 3 years old will be admitted for free. Tickets are now sold at all SM Cinema Ticket outlets
