Masked men kill drug surrenderer

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: An alleged drug pusher who recently surrendered to the police was killed after masked armed men stormed his rented house at past midnight here on Friday.

His companion, an 18-year-old confessed drug user, was wounded in the attack.

Supt. Bryant Demot, city police director, identified the fatality as Ferdinand Alvarez, 51, while wounded was Jomar Raagas, both temporarily staying in Barangay Santiago Sur.
Alvarez died from six gunshot wounds on his back.

Witnesses said three armed men wearing bonnets barged into the victims’ rented house and opened fire, killing Alvarez instantly.

Demot said both victims surrendered after their names were included in the list of suspected pushers and users submitted by barangay (village) officials.

Their landlady told the police that Alvarez and Raagas are also into money-lending.
It was the third drug-related killing in this city.

Last Sunday, the chairman of Barangay Ilocanos Norte–Audy Flores–and his nephew, Medelito, who were tagged as notorious drug traders by police authorities were gunned down inside their house by an unidentified assailant.
