• Matteo Guidicelli on all things ‘Cars’

and his message for girlfriend Sarah Geronimo’s birthday tomorrow

In The Know caught up with racer/actor Matteo Guidicelli last week when he unveiled the life-sized Lightning McQueen model at Disney-Pixar’s “Cars 3” event at SM North EDSA The Block.

The animated movie opens on Wednesday, July 26, but happily, the automobile lover already got first dibs in watching the iconic film franchise. Cars 3 had Matteo reminiscing about his racing career and definitely related to the story.

“It’s so cool because the story of Lightning McQueen and Ramirez is really my story in my racing career. What a coincidence no? It’s about the teacher who found out there was somebody better to pass on his knowledge to, with that person becoming better than the teacher.”

Cars 3 sees the well-loved Lightning McQueen blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, with the legendary Piston-Cup champion finding himself suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves.

While Lightning is still the same self-assured, determined and fun-loving race car audiences fell in love with, his confidence is tested by the new cars on the track.

Enter Cruz Ramirez. Tasked with getting Lightning McQueen back on track after a devastating setback, Cruz isn’t shy. Her training style is high-tech, enthusiastic and steadfast—she’s not afraid to apply a little tough love. But there’s more to Cruz than meets the eye.

This is where Cars 3 also shows that the film is not just for kids and car lovers, but for women as well. Even Matteo was surprised by this part of the movie.

“It’s also about women empowerment, showing that women have to believe in themselves more because they are already great and can even be greater.”

If there is one lesson Matteo picked up from the movie, though, he said it would be, “Once you think you’re the best at something, it will not last too long. You always have to keep an open mind and keep going and learning.”

Of course, In the Know didn’t let Matteo go without asking after his four-year relationship with Sarah Geronimo whose birthday happens to be tomorrow.

“I wish her the best. She’s becoming a great woman and she’s evolving in becoming a greater and better person every day.”

Matteo quickly shot down rumors that he and Sarah have drifted apart since they are both busy with their respective careers.

“Maybe she just doesn’t want the attention to be about our relationship with her new movie ‘Finally Found Someone’ coming out, but yes we are totally fine.”

GUESS WHO? Known for being a drama queen, this actress took up her rep a notch higher during a fight with a former flame. In fact, the scene was so cinematic, it could easily be the highlight of a movie.

During their breakup fight, which happened while in the car along C-5, ex-boyfriend could not help but notice how drama queen used lines from a movie while shouting at him and threatening him. Trying to calm her down, ex-boyfriend asked her to chill saying there weren’t even any cameras around.

Drama queen swiftly went into her shaky, teary-eyed mode, but what ex-boyfriend could not handle was what happened next. Drama queen commanded the rattled driver to stop the car, who slowed down along C-5, so that drama queen bolted out crying and shouting she would walk home.

Ex-boyfriend was so shocked that he ran after drama queen who was trying to make a scene in the middle of the highway.

Finally, drama queen, probably satisfied with her performance, got back into the car, ending their controversial and not so secret relationship.

    Until next week! Ta-ta!
