LUCENA CITY: Mayor Joselito Ojeda of Mulanay town in Quezon province asked the Office of the Ombudsman for more time to answer the complaint filed against him for allegedly submit-ting a false Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).
The Ombudsman for Luzon ordered Ojeda to submit a counter affidavit, affidavit of witnesses to answer the charges of dishonesty, violation of Code of Conduct and Ethical Standard for Public Officials and employees, and Civil Service Decree filed against him by Crispin Burgos Bariata.
Bariata accused Ojeda, who is now on his second term as mayor of Mulanay, of submitting a false SALN for calendar years 2010 to 2014. He claimed that Ojeda’s SALN put his net worth only at around P15M as of 2013.
Bariata claimed that Ojeda has other properties under his name including mansions, condominium units, prime lots in exclusive subdivisions, top-of-the-line vehicles, radio stations and other properties including the new 5-storey twin towers in Tayabas City.
In his motion filed through his counsel Frumencio Pulgar, Ojeda said he only received the order of the Ombudsman on July 7, 2015 and due to the volume of his work and preparation of pleadings.
He added that he needs an additional thirty days from the expiry of the original period on July 17, 2015 or up to August 16, 2015 to file his Counter Affidavits.
