• Mayors’ shabu labs in Masbate raided

LEGAZPI CITY: The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) raided two shabu laboratories owned by two former Masbate town mayors on Saturday. Malu Calubaquib, PNP Bicol regional spokesperson, told The Manila Times that the joint operation was done after several months of probing and after the Regional Trial Court branch 78 of Quezon City issued a search warrant. The shabu laboratories are reportedly owned by former Milagros town mayor Lester Abapo and Abapo’s cousin, former San Fernando town mayor Cherry Abapo. Both were arrested during the raid. Bicol Regional Police Director Victor Deona said the biggest threat in the region is no longer the communist movement but the massive proliferation of illegal drugs. Cousins Cherry and Lester are facing charges for violating the comprehensive anti-drug law.
