A QUARTER century of storied MX-5 Miata history will turn another page as Mazda prepares to unveil the model’s fourth-gen version in simultaneous launch events in Japan, Spain and the US.
To debut as a 2016 model, the all-new MX-5 was teased by Mazda at the New York International Auto Show early this year as an exposed SkyActiv-Chassis. On September 3, speculation will shift into revelation.
“We’re excited to make this official, to announce that the newest member of the MX-5 Miata family will be arriving soon,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and chief executive officer at Mazda North American Operations. “Along with our colleagues around the world, we continue to celebrate the MX-5’s 25th anniversary and look forward to sharing even more news in the near future.”
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the MX-5, Mazda will hold the Mazda Roadster Thanks Day in Japan on September 4 in Urayasu City, Chiba. The event is intended to express Mazda’s heartfelt gratitude to all the fans that have supported the MX-5 over the past 25 years. The event will feature a wide range of activities for participants to enjoy, including an exhibit of heritage models.
