Mazdas chalk Guinness for longest driving parade

THE Guinness Book of World Records has recognized a parade of driving Mazdas as the longest ever, according to local Mazda distributor Berjaya Auto Phils. The new record, set during the MAX-5 2013 event held on June 15 in the Netherlands, saw 1,450 participants aboard 683 Mazda MX-5s in a procession along the roads around the RDW Test Center at Lelystand.

Berjaya said the old record stood at 458 MX-5s in a driving parade, which was set in 2010 in Essen, Germany.

“It feels so good to see Mazda MX-5 owners from all over the world unite together toward yet another record-breaking feat,” said Berjaya Auto Phils. President Steven Tan. “In the Philippines we see the same intense passion in the Miata Club of the Philippines.”

Berjaya said the Miata Club of the Philippines, founded in August 1997, allows its members the opportunity to enjoy their cars together with other Miata enthusiasts. It is presently headed by Allan Bautista.

Berjaya’s current product lineup includes the Mazda2 subcompact sedan and hatchback, Mazda3 compact sedan and hatchback, Mazda 3 MAXX, Mazda6 executive sedan, CX-5 compact SUV, CX-9 SUV, MX-5 roadster and the BT-50 pickup. It has 11 Mazda sales and service dealerships in Metro Manila and the provinces.
